Samhain Psychism Pouch You will need: 1 Dark Blue Candle Mugwort Wormwood Marigold Petals 1 quartz Crystal 1 amethyst crystal (or tumble) Small Blue pouch

Prior to performing any act of divination, you might like to make a Samhain Psychism Pouch.

Light your candle. Carefully pass the crystals through the flame. Mix the herbs together and burn half of the mix on a charcoal disc in your cauldron or heat proof container. Carefully put the rest of the herb mix and the crystals into the blue pouch and cleanse it thoroughly in the incense smoke while empowering it with psychic energies:

Say a few words to communicate your intent such as:

Herb and Petal,
Flame and Stone,
Bring to light
That which is unknown.

When the candle has burned down, place the end of the candle in your pouch. Place this on your Altar when you perform your workings. Amethyst is a stone of Psychism and can be worn during workings. It allows messages received during divination to be processes and analysed correctly. Some people like to keep a piece of amethyst with there tarot cards, or rune stones on account of their link with psychic powers.

Crystals and the Otherworld

At Samhain, people like to try and make contact with those how have passed on from this world. Crystals can be used to encourage spirit contact. Kyanite, which gets its name from the Greek word for Blue, Kyanos, is a crystal which resonates with the spirit world and is often used to make contact with ones spirit guide. Lapiz Lazuli, which funnily enough takes its name from the Persian word "Lazhward", which also means Blue, is also good for contacting spirits. Angelite is also a useful stone as it enables telepathy and aids contact with angels and animal guides as well as spirits of loved ones.
