Whitewitch's Beltane Altar

BELTANE RITUAL

By Whitewitch

Your altar should be dressed to set the scene
(You will need two fires preferably in Cauldron's, alternatively 2 short fat candles 1 red and 1 green in safe holders or placed in the cauldron(s))

Welcome, This is a festival of Beltane, the great festival of fire and fertility. Now is the time when the Goddess sheds the robes of Maiden and takes on those of the Mother. Now the God stands at her side, and rules as her consort, and their marriage is for the fertility of all the land.

In the past the young Stag Lord, chosen at birth, would run with the deer, challenge and be challenged, and if he won through he would win the maiden. Thus was the Great Rite celebrated to bring fertility to all.

This is a time of great joy, a time to love, sing, dance and make merry, for the Old Ones lead us in the dance of life. Blessed Be.

Casting the Circle

I cast this circle with my blade of power.
I cast this circle once in the name of the Maiden and the Green Man, that their youth and vitality embrace my rites this night (or day).
I cast this circle twice in the name of the Mother and the Horned Lord, that Their strength and passion empower my rites this night (or day).
I cast this circle thrice in the name of the Crone and the Lord of Death, that Their wisdom and shadows balance my rites this night (or day).
In the name of the Lord and Lady, this circle is cast.
Let nothing unwelcome enter within.
By my will, so mote it be.

Welcoming the Lord and Lady

I call upon the Old Gods and Goddesses, to be with me.
To watch over us, to guard us and protect us during these our Rites.

(Light the fires, when lighting the fire chant:
God of Sun, Fire in the sky
Light the Earth and warm the night
Warm our spirits, hearts and hands
Shed your light upon this land)
