Moonshadows
Meet Up
Ludlow Medieval Fayre
November 2006
|
Above
is a photo of one of the old buildings in Ludlow, it's
a pub called 'The Feathers Hotel' The blue plaque on the
wall outside said that the building became an inn in c.1670.
The oldest part of the Feathers, including the world famous
timber façade, was built in 1619 (during the reign of
King James I) by Rees Jones, a successful attorney in
the town, who had frequently appeared before the Council
of the Marches, which from 1536 until 1689 was situated
in Ludlow making the town in effect the capital of Wales. The
balcony wasn't added until the mid 19th century when it
was used for electioneering.

If you've seen the Chalice Well meet up page you know that
there is photo of Moondust with a rather strange look on
her face, we've decided to make this a tradition and Raven
managed to capture this expresssion this time! I think it
was just after the 'randy giant' seen below tried to make
off with her, I'm sure Moonstorm would be willing to tell
the tale if you ask her nicely lol
|
|
 |
The
'randy giant' mentioned above is 'King Stephen' he parades
the crowds overseeing his kingdom during the event along
with a strange chap called Baron Swyndlestock. Poor Moonstorm! |
|
This strange looking woman with her big nose and matching
big nosed baby is one of the members of The Singing Plague
Victims who are regulars at the medieval fayre, who givw hilarious and highly infectious performances of traditional songs and music culled from the rich musical heritage of Merrie England, with an emphasis on comedy audience participation |
|
 |
Whitewitch
eating 'little brains' as Moonie so poetically put it lol!
she's actually eating roasted chestnuts, a delicacy she
went ga ga for and devoured with relish. Actually she devoured
an awful lot of stuff, the baby was very hungry and made
her eat mince pies, sweeties, chestnuts and a lot of other
goodies. |
|
And then there were three! Okay technically four but Raven
was behind the camera! Moondust and Beowulf had to leave
us early due to ill health. So at the end of the day after
eating, drinking, being merry and cold the three remaining
Moonshadow members gathered for a farewell photo. We're
all looking forward to the next meet up, hopefully when
it's warmer in 2007 and more of us will be there! |
